About HoverAid

A HoverAid is a Christian, humanitarian charity, based in the UK and the Netherlands, and working in Madagascar. We use hovercraft, unique amphibious technology, to reach isolated communities, making it possible for aid organisations to work in areas that have been simply too difficult or too expensive to reach. Most aid organisations limit their work to areas where there are roads; very few use rivers at all..

It is a very simple concept – hovercraft can reach communities that other vehicles and boats cannot. Hovercraft can easily travel over mudflats, swamps, ice and rapids, and crucially, along waterways which are too shallow for ordinary boats.

Communities struggle and people die because of poor access. It is hard enough being amongst the majority of the poor on this planet without being overlooked when help is available, because your community is too difficult to reach.

HoverAid operates in remote regions of Madagascar not easily accessible by road or boat. These communities don’t have easy or regular access to healthcare and are often cut off completely during rainy seasons and in times of emergencies such as flooding, cyclones or drought. They use their hovercraft to transport medical and emergency aid.

We run programmes that meet the needs of the community. These projects fit our aims of connecting with individuals and isolated communities that foster healthy growth.

HoverAid operates in remote regions best accessed by hovercraft. We’ve worked in Madagsacar since 2006 & are keen to expand to other hard to reach areas worldwide.

HoverAid provide a unique solution to the problem of access to many communities. Our HoverAid fleet is made up of several different hovercraft, details below.
