Our post today addresses vegetarian & vegan diets. (If a product is vegan-friendly, you can be assured it is vegetarian-friendly too.)
Almost all vanilla is vegan, so doesn't contain any animal products.. If the vanilla that you are buying is not vegan, it's likely that the vanilla has either been tampered with or contains additives.
At Vanillabazaar, we pride ourselves on our organic, pure vanilla, with zero additives.
Some people get veganism and vegetarianism mixed up, so below is an explanation of the differences between the two. As usual, we will provide all of our sources for you, and these are linked at the bottom of the blog.
Vegetarianism: For vegetarians who eat dairy products and eggs, a healthy diet is the same as for anyone else, but without meat or fish.
Veganism: Vegans do not eat foods that come from animals, including dairy products and eggs. A vegan diet contains only plants (such as vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits) and foods made from plants.
Veganism is said to be excellent for our planet, as if we all turned to a vegan diet, the world’s food-related emissions would drop 70% by 2050, according to a 2016 report on food and climate in the academic journal, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). (BBC Good Food)
Pescatarian: The pescatarian diet is widely accepted as being a nutritious choice due to the known benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, coupled with high-protein, lean white fish and omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish including salmon, mackerel, herring and fresh tuna. Most simply, a pescatarian is someone who doesn’t eat meat, but does eat fish.
